The one-recipient workflow
- Send your own email text to hey@playmymail.com. Put the message in the email body. Play My Mail converts readable body text up to 2,000 words; it does not read attachments.
- Wait for the reply. It contains a private listening link and a separate management pass. Open the link to check the text and a short excerpt. If you play to the end, the 60-second countdown begins; check DO NOT DELETE YET and verify the displayed deadline before you share.
- Send your message to its intended reader. Paste only the listening link into the email. Keep the management page and pass to yourself. Tell the reader it is temporary.
A single reader is the clearest use of this flow. A listener can finish playback, keep the link for a day, or delete it, and any of those choices affects everyone holding the same link.
Example: a personal project update
Suppose Noor is writing Maya about a community garden morning. Noor first sends the same text to Play My Mail. After checking a short excerpt and the displayed deadline, Noor sends Maya the original written update with this short note above it:
Fictional email note
Prefer listening? I made a temporary audio version of this update: [paste the listening link from your Play My Mail reply]. You can read along and change the playback speed. Please open it soon; it can expire 60 seconds after the recording finishes.
Replace the bracketed instruction with the real listening URL. Do not paste the management pass. The fictional community garden audio sample illustrates the content and flow without exposing a real email; its locally generated voice may differ from the production voice.
What your reader can do
The listening page offers an MP3 player, an approximate read-along view, 15-second skips, and adjustable speed. The reader can also check DO NOT DELETE YET to keep the link for up to 24 hours within its maximum retention window, or press Delete link now. Because the link grants access to the audio and text, share it only with someone you intend to receive the message.
Timing matters
Links start with a 24-hour lifetime. Playback finishing starts a 60-second countdown unless the link is being kept. If the recipient needs repeated access or a long review window, the link expiry guide explains the available controls before you send.
Give your next message a listening option
Keep the original text in your email so the recipient can choose how to read it. Start by sending that text to hey@playmymail.com.
